Your love for God is determined by what you are willing to give up for Him. So who is ready to put down that bottle and blunt??? Who ready to stop cursing people out, fighting, stealing, lusting, lying, stripping, pimping, listening to sinful music that glorifies sin, sex, drugs, murder etc? Who ready to stop clubbin' and partying? (If Christ ain't there, we shouldn't want to be there either. The only thing we should be partying about is the fact that Jesus died for our sins. Not for any other reason. We would be nothing with out Him. No excuses.) I could go on and on but you get the point. Giving up sinful things and desiring His presences allows us to draw nearer to God. God separates himself from sin. People say "the devil made me do it" but I do not think that is so. The devil tempts us to operate in the flesh so that we will sin. When we are not walking in the spirit somethin bad is bound to happen. Satan deprives us of God's presence so that we will sin.

Fasting from things that you love are a great way to show God that you are for real about Him. Dedicating time to pray and read God's word will help you to excel in spirit. Try dedicating the first seven minutes of your day by listenin and singing your favorite type of gospel music. When you wake up, pray, and sing praises to God for 7 minutes. When you are done, read one chapter out of the book of Proverbs everyday. There are 31 chapters in Proverbs which is a chapter for each day of the month. Proverbs contains a lot of wisdom that will help us as Christians live better. It explains to us who we should and shouldn't hang around, things we should and should not do, etc. Wisdom is important in growing spiritually. You do not want to play a game and not know the rules right? You do not want to be a Christian that lacks wisdom and understanding.
